Match report

Bishops Waltham Dynamos U15B - 2
Broughton U15 - 5
Testway League U15 Division 2

An early start for us at Priory Park, good conditions except for a chilly breeze. A really important match against close rivals Broughton, it was end to end excitement from start to finish, and so enthralling to watch that match day notes are few and far between ! As is customary Dynamos slept until going a goal behind when a through ball evaded the defence and the forward slid the ball past JT. Dynamos replied quite soon after when Rob R ploughed through the Broughton defence as bodies bounced off him from all sides and he coolly steered his shot past the advancing keeper to get Dynamos back in the game. Both teams were making chances for themselves regularly, the midfield battle was really being won by Dynamos but the well practiced Broughton long ball tactic was very effective too. Suddenly Dynamos had the lead, the ball fell to Jack on the edge of the area and although the keeper seemed to have it covered he was beaten by the pace of the volley and Broughton were trailing. This battle continued to rage until just before half time, a Broughton free kick set piece was well executed, a kick into the area over the defence and three forwards running on, only one was needed to deflect the ball past JT into the net. So, honours even at half time in an excellent match, Dynamos would have the wind advantage in the second period.
However, as the second half unfolded it was Broughton as a team who showed more determination to go on and win the football match, in spite of Tom B winning almost every header in this half ! there was stalemate for a quarter of an hour but the deadlock was broken when Dynamos conceded a needless free kick just outside the area for handball. The kick was duly floated over JT into the far corner of the net for 2-3. Soon after Broughton were awarded a penalty for a tackle from behind, it was well taken leaving JT no chance, so 2-4 and a mountain for Dynamos to climb now. But as so often will happen when you chase a game holes appear at the back and for all Dynamos effort it was Broughton who scored again to take the game out of Dynamos reach.
Manager Adam was full of praise for the excellent football played and all the effort on display, mentioning Rob P, who played midfield today, Rob R who played up front and Jack, man of the match though just had to be Tom B.
