At our second home today but not too wet underfoot but a bit chilly for watching. Dynamos had one obvious focus today, namely stop the one called Barney from getting too much of a look in. The man marking task fell to Ben K. Dynamos began the match brightly, some great play down the left by Sam and Ads created an early chance for Luke who shot just over. Dynamos were well on top, Ads was getting well forward and won a free kick inside the Hatch Warren (HW) half, Tom B took the kick which the keeper pushed over the bar, Jack had a couple of chances, first a one-on-one which the keeper was equal to and then sliding another cross goal shot just past the far post. HW regrouped and came back at Dynamos, a free kick hit the bar and fell into the area HW were first to the ball and only a fine double save by JT prevented the deadlock being broken before halftime.
The second half began once again well for Dynamos who were passing really out of defence and making things difficult for high flying HW in all areas of the pitch. Another Tom B free kick, this time the keeper saved again, but, from the resulting corner Luke headed Dynamos into the lead at the near post. Now Dynamos could do no wrong, everyone was playing hard and fast, Dynamos were first to everything and HW didn't get a look-in. During this purple patch Dynamos scored what will probably be the goal of their season, a quite sublime passing move out of defence down the left involving (I think) JT, Sam, Ads, Tom B, Luke and finally Jack. From one end of the pitch to the other in one sweeping move, some of it one touch stuff too ! without HW getting so much as a sniff of the ball. Manager Adam was jumping up and down with excitement at this awesome spectacle. Dynamos confidence was sky high as they continued to shut HW out of the game and us spectators revelled in the prospect of a win equal to that of the CK Andover away game.
Then it happened, someone asked the ref how long to go, (never do this when you are winning) six minutes came the reply, Dynamos visibly switched off and HW were unlucky not to end up winning the game. The bubble had burst. Before the game a draw would have been a great result, in the context of the game these were points dropped.
Afterwards, manager Adam was full of praise for the whole team for their brilliant battling performance, picking out Ads, Jed, JT, Sam and Luke for their contributions but man of the match was obviously Ben K for nailing Barney out of contention and taking the pressure off the rest of the team. Really well done everyone, a great game to watch. (Mostly) !
