Match report

Bishops Waltham Dynamos U15B - 2
Fordingbridge U15 - 0
Testway League U15 Cup 2nd Round

Even though there had been little rain, the odd ground at Priory Park was really very soggy, add in dark grey skies and a raw wind made for a bit of an ordeal for all. Manager Adam began by "resting" a few from the regular starting line-up. Dynamos also welcomed Arron ?????? for his debut game today. Fordingbridge (FB) started well and an early goal attempt which was saved well by Rob R who was standing in for JT today. Some determined tackling at the back notably by Ben K helped Dynamos into the game, Ben K played Arron H through on goal but his shot slipped wide of the far post. Dynamos had a decent spell of good possession but failed to break down the packed FB defence, an FB counter attack was headed clear by Jed who also followed up his own work with another great tackle to clear the danger. Another FB attack failed when it reached Jed who brought the ball out and played Arron H clean through but the ball became bogged down and the chance slipped away. From now on we had a well contested game to watch, Dynamos made the first breakthrough, after laying siege to the FB goal and many players firing in shots on goal, the ball was finally deposited into the FB net by Tom B. With their added confidence from gaining a lead Dynamos started to look far more assured going forward, the pace of the two Arrons up front was causing the FB defence many problems, at the back Ben K and Jed were each having a great game and with good marshaling from Sam they were protecting Rob R well. Jed once again played Arron H through on goal, this time he rounded the keeper and slotted home to double the lead. Soon after, Tom B sent Arron on his way again, a corner was won and as it came over Arron was on hand to head just over. 2-0 at half time was a good reflection of the play.
The second period began as the first had as FB mounted a big effort to stay in the cup, on two occasions early in the second half they had the ball in the Dynamos net but were adjudged to be offside on both occasions. At the other end a Tim long throw was volleyed over the bar by Tom B, Jack won a corner but Dynamos were repelled this time. FB were doing their best to take the game to Dynamos but Dynamos were equal to the task and indeed had the ball in the net for a third time when Jack and Arron combined but were called back for offside. There was an amazing scramble in the FB goal mouth which seemed to last an eternity but the FB defence just held on. As to be expected the play became much more open as the half wore on with the heavy conditions, Arron, who was starring up front showed great skill to open up a chance but he shot over when under pressure from the defender, play was now concentrated in the FB half, Dynamos displaying good passing moves down the left involving Ads and Luke, Jim had a brilliant long shot really well saved by the FB keeper, Ads produced a great through ball for Jack but the FB keeper was again equal to the shot. Against the run of play the final goalmouth action of the match was at the other end, an FB corner flew to the far post, was partially cleared, but to an FB forward who's shot into the bottom corner was somehow kept out by Rob R. Manager Adam was suitably impressed, a good clean sheet and into the last eight and all done whilst experimenting with the line up. Tom B was man of the match.
