Match report

Bishops Waltham Dynamos U16 - 5
Broughton U16 - 1
Testway League U16 Division 2

Tiny Hoe Road pitch for this fixture of fixtures ! For some reason the Broughton games have become our equivalent of a derby match and are usually played in a similar manner. Nice day though. Broughton got the game started but lose possession almost immediately, a quick throw by Ads finds its way to Joe who's snap shot flies just wide. In the second minute Sam plays Tom B into midfield, he slips the ball across to Jack who hammers the ball into the net leaving the keeper no chance. An early goal was the perfect start but Broughton came back strongly, Dynamos midfield had a long hard game in front of them. A long ball over the top from Broughton finds their striker but he shoots wide, a minute later however they were level ! A mix up in the Dynamos midfield, a swift Broughton counter allows them to score easily with Dynamos out of position for once. Broughton had the momentum with them for a period, another trademark long ball brought a brave save from JT coming off his line to deny the striker. Back come Dynamos, Joe runs wide to beat the keeper to the ball in the area but his shot is cleared off the line. The game became bogged down for a time as the two midfields slugged it out for supremacy - without much of an outcome, a long throw by Joe into the area is laid back for Rob P to force a save by the keeper. Another long throw, this time by Tom B is met perfectly by Jordan in the six yard area as he heads Dynamos back into the lead. Yet another long throw by Tom B is cleared by Broughton for a corner which is defended well. I do need to qualify the phrase 'long throw', please keep in mind that the touch line on this pitch is only about four feet from the edge of the penalty area. To round off a well contested first 23 minutes Dynamos took complete control of the game via a typical slick passing move, Ads slides a long pass down the left to Jack, he slips the ball into Aaron who finds Jordan near the edge of the area, his low shot finds the back of the net beating the keeper with the help of a deflection. Dynamos continued to pile on the pressure, creating chances for Aaron, Joe, Jack and Tom B but without further score. Broughton replied with a shot which was nearer the car park than the net. Dynamos work the ball out to Jack on the left he crosses in to Aaron who is offside in the middle. Halftime.
Dynamos kick off and start well, Broughton keeper denys Joe's headed attempt in the opening minute, in the second minute the Broughton keeper saves from Jack, the rebound comes to Joe who beats a defender and shoots but again the keeper is in the way. The emphasis was on Broughton to attack, this came in the form of some heavy handed tactics in midfield and long balls over the top of the Dynamos defence, one such effort created an opportunity for the striker who was caught from behind inside the area. The resulting penalty hits the underside of the crossbar and the follow up is headed over, so now the match had an actual turning point, Broughton heads dropped. Amazingly, Broughton hit the bar again only three minutes later with the goal pretty much open. The Broughton number 8 is booked for retaliation on Rob R. Unfortunately the remainder of the match was much less of a spectacle as Broughton's midfield went missing. A Broughton corner is easily saved at the near post by JT, his long clearance finds Matt who fires a great cross field ball into Joe who chips the keeper but sees his attempt clear the bar too. Things were much easier for Dynamos now, as long as they avoided the desperate lunges being flung at them, Broughton were sloppy now, a weak goal kick goes straight to Aaron who keeps his cool to go round the keeper and roll the ball in for the fourth. Ads combines with Tom B and finds Jack who crosses in to Joe but his shot is saved. Another great move down the left leaves the Broughton midfield behind ends with a collectors item right foot shot from Jack looping over the keeper and a 5-1 score line. Next, a wide ranging move switching play from side to side creates a chance for Joe but the keeper is equal to it. Matt charges through on goal but his attempted chip is saved by the keeper.
The final whistle goes, manager Adam praises many performances today, Greg is man of the match. Dynamos are one step away from the division two championship, Hatch Warren are keeping things on edge, can Dynamos do it ?
