Match report

Broughton U16 - 1
Bishops Waltham Dynamos U16 - 1
Testway League U16 Division 2
This is probably our most favourite away fixture, possibly because it's such a nice place to be but more likely because in recent seasons we have come away with all the points. We should still rate this as a lucky venue as this is a game we could easily have lost. The home team got things underway but it was Dynamos who created the first opening, Tom B hit a free kick into the Broughton area, chaos followed but the ball was eventually cleared. Broughton attacked swiftly as they usually do, and forced a good save from JT diving low to his left. There was little to choose between the teams in the opening period, pass completion from both teams was a rarity. However, in the fourteenth minute Dynamos produced the first decent move of the match, Ben K and Joe combining well to release Jack on a run into the area where he curled the ball over the keeper into the far left corner of the net. Broughton persisted in their swift attacks, JT was kept busy saving well and also punching clear from a corner. On the half hour a Broughton corner was half cleared to the edge of the area, falling to a Broughton player and was fired back but against the crossbar and away from danger. Half time crawled into view as this rather unattractive game of football spluttered to the break.
The first ten minutes of the second period had more action than the whole of the first, to begin with it appeared Dynamos would extend their lead but chances for Aaron and Ben K both failed to find the net. Broughton hit back on the break and slot the ball past the advancing JT to level the scores. At the other end Joe saw his shot deflected and saved easily by the keeper. Another Broughton break down their left was crossed in and put into the net but from an offside position. Dynamos replied with a rare passing move which ended with Rob P having a shot charged down, Broughton countered from here and forced another brave save from JT. The teams then reverted to their scrappy form of the first half, neither team seemingly able to take the inititive to go and take the victory. Broughton came closest, a shot from the edge of the area hits the post and the forward following up, somehow scoops his shot over the bar. In general nothing of interest was happening which is quite unusual for this fixture which usually produces at least half a dozen goals. In the final five minutes Dynamos were able to play some good football but too little and still missing the final shot as had been the case throughout this match.
Manager Adam's comments revolved around the lack of a final product and an overall lacklustre performance, Jack was man of the match.
