Match report

Bishops Waltham Dynamos U16 - 3
Test Valley Lions U16 - 2
Testway League U16 Division 2
Conditions at Hoe Road this morning were verging on hot, especially for the time of year. Test Valley (TV) arrived here with an 100% record and right from the off they displayed a very 'confident' mentality, unfortunately in the second minute TV secured an early lead with a speculative shot from distance which flew into the top corner. Dynamos looked a bit shocked, but it was the first goal conceded this season, in response there were shots on goal by Greg and Joe in this opening period. However, it was TV who scored next, in the seventh minute a high cross flicked off a defensive head and was well saved by JT low down to his right but TV were first to the loose ball and the 'confidence' reached its peak for the morning ! About fifteen minutes into the game Dynamos began to calm things down and started stringing a few passes together, although there were some chances at each end, the match had most of its action at the TV end now. Dynamos had to re-organise when Jordan came off injured. But Dynamos kept up the pressure on the TV goal, Matt, Joe and Jack were all getting in good positions but it just didn't seem to be Dynamos day. It was about now that Dave Summers was heard to suggest that this would be a good game to win 3-2. The first half continued as a fairly well fought affair, there were shots at both ends but neither keeper was too troubled, Jack had a shot saved, Ben K won a corner from which Gregs shot was blocked. A couple of minutes later and a lenghty goalmouth scramble at the TV end and still Dynamos have no luck. Dynamos keep attacking but TV always seem to have one last player to make the telling tackle or block, fortunes just had to change. Halftime arrived.
Dynamos began the second half as they had left the first, camped in the TV half they won a string of early corners but with no end product. Finally, a ball through from midfield released Joe who cooly blasted the ball past the TV keeper and the deserved goal had come. Constant Dynamos pressure brought further corners, TV were struggling to pass successfully and had resorted to the long ball to anywhere-will-do approach. Jack was played through by Greg but shot just over. Two further Dynamos corners were both dealt with by the TV keeper, but, twenty minutes into the half Dynamos were level, Matt latched onto a slightly long through ball and chased the ball to the advancing keeper who kicked the ball into Matt and all that he needed to do was follow the rebound into the net. Dynamos set about finding a winner in the quarter of an hour which remained, full backs Ads and Sam were both getting into forward positions now ! Tom B let fly with a long range screamer which clipped the outside of the left upright. A TV goal kick goes straight to Joe, who floats his reply just over the bar, a long throw from Tom B causes havoc in the TV goalmouth but its cleared in the end, Matt heads a Tom B corner just wide. Five minutes from time Matt runs onto a through ball, once again the advancing keeper was the obstacle, this time Matt gets there first and deftly flicks the bouncing ball to the keepers side and Dynamos have the lead. And a few minutes later the win too ! A great team performance today from Dynamos, another solid defensive display, excellent distribution from JT in goal, excellent team character has been shown to overcome strong opponents today. In the second half, fitness clearly played a big part to expose the difference in the two sides. Man of the match was Joe who controlled things down the right today. After the game TV struggled to hide their disappointment at losing a game they had clearly turned up to win, the return fixture may be even tougher.
