Match report

Test Valley Lions U16 - 1
Bishops Waltham Dynamos U16 - 2
Testway League U16 Division 2

A win today for Dynamos would put an end to any title aspirations Test Valley had, after the rather emotional display from some of the Test Valley (TV) spectators at Hoe Road the League had seen fit to appoint a referee for this game. Test Valley kick off but Dynamos create the first chance as Matt fires a shot across the face of the TV goalmouth. TV were strong and played a decent and varied attack which kept Sam, Ads, Greg and Rob R fully occupied with JT doing a great job marshaling the defence. In case a warning was needed in the fourth minute TV had the ball in the net but a forward pass in the area caught the striker offside. Seven minutes in and TV are on their second corner but its headed well clear by Greg. A minute later the deadlock is broken, Dynamos defence play the ball into midfield where Jack picks up and runs at the TV defence, beats two defenders and gets a shot away, the ball gets a slight deflection to wrong foot the keeper and Dynamos are in front. Dynamos attempt to consolidate the lead with sustained pressure, Joe wins a corner out on the right, the ball is played in and a pinball session breaks out, around half a dozen attempts on goal before the sequence is ended when Greg shoots wide. Back come TV, they win a corner of their own, it's half cleared and a shot from the edge of the area goes well wide. Another corner for Dynamos is headed out for a repeat, the second is played in and half cleared to Sam who volley is goal bound but cleared off the line. Moments later Jack is through on the keeper and tries to slip the ball past but the keeper sticks out a leg and manages to deflect the ball onto the right hand post and out for a goal kick. The match was really well contested, chances were coming at each end as both teams fought to gain supremacy. Just before half time a TV attack breaks through and JT pulls off a great save with his legs, the ball falls to another TV player who tries to cross but only makes the front post and what appeared to be an easy take for the recovering JT, somehow the ball falls through his grasp and the TV striker is on hand to poke the ball into the net to square the match. Half time duly arrived, manager Adam had a big job on his hands to keep the boys motivation going for the second half.
Dynamos kick off and go straight on the offensive, Ads plays a ball into Jack down the left flank, he cuts inside to beat a couple of defenders and gets a good shot in, unlucky though, the ball hits post and comes back to the keeper. Tom B gets a shot away from a central position but just wide. More Dynamos pressure is repelled by the TV defence but only as far as Rob P he fires a fairly speculative shot straight at the keeper who elects to save with his feet, misses, and allows the ball to pass between his legs and it creeps over the line ! Five minutes later the same keeper has to go off injured after a heavy clash. A long range TV effort on goal has JT scrambling to save well at the expense of a corner, a resulting shot goes high and wide. The mid part of this half became bogged down in midfield, partly due to excessive flag waving on the TV line. Dynamos only way forward now was to play through the TV defence, a slick move down the right creates a chance for Matt but the replacement keeper does well. Ben K comes on for Sam. Another Dynamos attack is half cleared and falls to Jordan who fires the half chance just wide of the far post. Tim comes on for Jack. TV are far from finished, they win a corner and proceed to waste it behind the goal. Dynamos are able to play out the remaining minutes keeping the ball well and ensuring the victory in this hard fought match. Today, Dynamos excellent defence won this match as they neutralised and frustrated the TV forward players who had run out of ideas in the second half. Man of the match was Matt who had an excellent game running at the TV defence causing them many problems.
