Match report

Bishops Waltham Dynamos U16 - 13
Whitchurch U16 - 0
Testway League U16 Division 2
Hmmm, this was a bit one sided, and even more than it appears from the scoreline. Lovely morning at Hoe Road but the pitches are still rather narrow. Witchurch kickoff but immediately lose possession and Aaron runs through on goal and keeper saves at the second attempt. This set the scene for the remainder of the match, in the first five minutes the Whitchurch goal was subjected to enormous pressure but the chances were going wide of the mark just as they did last week. In the seventh minute this all changed. Tom B's initial shot is deflected for a corner, Greg comes up from the back to head in with style. A minute later it was 2-0, a strong run and cross down the left by Jordan results in pinball scenes in the area finally poked home by Aaron. After this Whitchurch managed to steady the ship for about ten minutes, employing their familiar long ball tactic but Ads, Sam and especially Greg were coping easily with the Whitchurch front two. Jack latched onto a long throw and easily beat the stationary keeper to the ball and smashed it past him for the third. Plenty of drama in the twenty fifth minute, Aaron ran into the area and was bundled over by the defender who then prevented Aaron from getting to his feet again. For this the Whitchurch player was booked and Dynamos were awarded a penalty. Aaron for his part was adjudged to have thrown a punch and was sent from the field, all this took some sorting out, eventually Jordan stepped up and hit the spot kick against the post. There then followed a few minutes when Whitchurch had the chance to get back into the game but it was Dynamos who re-grouped quickly and produced a great passing move down their left finished by Joe and 4-0 really had Whitchurch sunk now. Manager Adam had re-shuffled the team to play three at the back now and swopped the midfield around to bring Joe onto the left. A minute later the ten men had the ball in the net again, Jacks header going in off Jordan. On the half hour Whitchurch had their first shot, it was of the off target variety. Dynamos eased off towards half time, even so the Whitchurch keeper was saving his team further embarrassment. So, 5-0 at the break.
The start of the second half mirrored that of the first, except the absent Aaron was replaced by Matt who had been fed by a combination of the two Tom's down the right, oh and he scored too. A minute later and Greg rises at the far post to head in a Tom B corner off the keepers legs. In the next minute Matt runs through and slips the ball past the keeper for another. And a minute after that Jordan heads in a Tom B long throw. So, four minutes into the second period and it was 9-0 ! Perhaps fielding ten players from now on could be an offensive option ? There followed an entire quarter of a hour without troubling the score board as Whitchurch tried to stem the flood of goals by defending in large numbers. Dynamos had the answer in the long throw directly into the six yard area, Joe's throw causing Whitchurch panic and Jack reacting fast to slot in from close range. A couple of minutes later Tom B showed lots of strength to hold off two challenges as he ran into the area and the composed himself to shoot across the keeper into the far left corner, now it was 12-0. A minute later and Tom had turned provider, his corner being headed in at the far post by an un-marked Greg. The final ten minutes or so were actually more evenly contested, Whitchurch found space on the break as Dynamos midfield were pushed so far up the pitch, more than a few tight situations were dealt with by Ads, Sam and the inspirational Greg. Up till now JT had nothing much to do and also did well to cover the late Whitchurch threats.
Manager Adam had requested an improvement in the goal difference, presumably this was a satisfactory effort. Dynamos now unbeaten in all five league games and the only unbeaten team. Bring on the top two ! Hat-tricks for Jordan and man of the match Greg.
