Match Day 2

Second match of the season saw us travel to Braishfield, a ground we don't have a very good record at. The pitch slope is pretty steep and the grass was pretty long, not ideal for our style of football.

There have been plenty of meetings between the two sides over the years, last season saw us win 3-2 in the cup and lose 2-1 in the league. Briashfield were sat top of the league unbeaten before the Covid end to the season and have always been a well organised side.

After a tough training session, the team were determined to start the game better and that's exactly what happened. After kicking off Dynamos played some quick passes and Joe Dudley found himself with the ball on the edge of the Braishfield box and curled in the opening goal after 39 seconds. This knocked Braishfield and they spent a while defending their area until they managed to work their way up to our box and had a claim for a goal which wasn't given. Dynamos then continued to apply pressure and in the 34th minute the lead was doubled. A smart through ball from Finn McGovern fell straight into the path of Alex Easton who drilled it into the bottom from outside the box. Soon after Braishfield were reduced to 10 men as their forward was sin binned. Dynamos capitalised on this as a long ball from keeper Fin Taylor cleared the Braishfield defence and Alex Easton ran through and scored his second. HT 0-3

The second half kicked off with Dynamos kicking uphill and Briahsfield still with 10 men. The second half was a lot more even but Dynamos defended well and looked after the ball when in possession. The only real chance for Braishfield came on the 60th minute where the Braishfield forward got the wrong side of Harrison Moore and won a penalty. After giving Fin Taylor a few words the Braishfield player skied his spot kick which saw Fin booked for laughing. We continued to control the game and with 8 minutes to go our new signing Nathaniel Sherborne was introduced with an immediate impact. a corner was delivered deep and headed back across by Elliott Braund, Joe Dudley brought it down and with his first touch Sherborne volleyed it home. This took the wind out of Briashfields sails and the closing 5mins were well navigated by Dynamos. FT 0-4 and a first clean sheet of the season.

A very strong team performance from Bishops Waltham, all round the pitch individual battles were won and all the players worked together to take the victory. Dealing with Braishfiled's very direct style of play and giant strikers has been an issue in the past but the defence handled everything thrown at them, our midfield bossed the game on and off the ball and our front line was a threat all game.
