Match Day 4

Our next league match saw us host Knightwood at Priory Park.

We met Knightwood in the league cup last season winning 6-1 before beating them 2-1 in the league. Our track record against them is very strong and that continued with a controlled display.

Bishops Waltham started the half well. 5 minutes into the game Joe Dudley put Alex Easton through but he was unable to convert his chance. Bishops Waltham continued to press during the early stages creating another two excellent opportunities but failed to convert them. Knightwood managed to cause some chaos in the Bishops Waltham box half way through the half which resulted in a shot hitting the bar but that proved to be their only clear chance of the half. Bishops Waltham continued to pressurize the Knightwood defence and looked threatening but a host of chances went begging, the best being a free header by Joe Dudley. HT 0-0.

After regrouping at half time Bishops Waltham came out strong in the second half and instantly put Knightwood on the back foot. Again, Bishops Waltham created plenty of chances but were unable to finish any off. Fortunately, on the 63rd minute the deadlock was broken. A throw into the box was knocked down by Ian Humble under 'pressure' from the Knightwood defence and Harrison Moore drilled it in. The first goal opened the flood gates. Straight from the Knightwood kick off Josh Godley applied strong pressure to the Knightwood defence, winning the ball, beating the last defender and calmly finishing under the keeper. Another 5 minutes passed before the next goal. A dangerous corner from Chris Flood found Joe Dudley unmarked who headed in at the back post. Just after, Kieran Palmer replaced Finn McGovern and had an immediate impact. A ball was slotted through from midfield, Kieran ran through and squared it to Joe Dudley who netted his second. Bishops Waltham continued to dominate possession for the rest of the game. Knightwood had a couple of breaks, one lead to a smart save from Fin Taylor. Moments after, a long goal kick from Fin Taylor cleared the Knightwood defence and Joe Dudley ran through to complete his hat-trick, a goal that's becoming a trademark of the team. FT 5-0
