Havant & Waterlooville U14A - 10
Bishops Waltham Dynamos U15B - 1
Hampshire U15 Cup 3rd Round (Last 16)
Conditions were quite unpleasant for playing football this morning, and really horrible for the hardy spectators who made this trip. As expected at this stage of the cup the opposition proved a bit strong and well organised ! The soaking wet pitch and torrential, horizontal rain made for a slow start to the game. After eight minutes of the first half Havant displayed their speed and accuracy up front, leaving JT with no chance of a save. Soon after, another swift attack down the right and a snappy cross ricocheted off Sam's hand, JT got a hand to the resulting penalty but the ball had enough velocity to cross the line. Havant scored another on the break with a well placed ball over the top for a three nil lead. Dynamos did get some decent possession but Havant were also organised at the back and the keeper was untroubled. To their credit Dynamos defence were getting stuck in, Ads was battling hard at left back, Sam was solid as usual, JT pulled off some great stops considering the conditions. Havant scored three more in the first half although as the half wore on (slowly for us supporters) Havant were not getting it all their own way, as they sensed an easy game the Havant shape gradually fell apart in favour of their forward line. Anyway, it was 6-0 at half time.
And it was 7-0 in the first minute of the second period, Havant even managed to score another direct from a miss-hit cross. Almost all of the play in this half was at the Dynamos end, Havant played with five or six up front although in this time they only added a couple more goals, some great defensive work by Dynamos finally having some effect. As soon as the score moved into double figures Dynamos began to find enormous gaps in the Havant midfield, against all the odds a goal was pulled back !, Jim won the ball in the centre circle, found Tom B who fed Ben K and his forward pass gave Jack the opening he needed to cut inside and smash the ball into the net. The Dynamos renaissance continued, JT made a spectacular double save right on the goal line and Dynamos even created another clear-cut goal scoring chance but missed the opportunity. This result was never really in doubt, it was good to see the Dynamos spirit at the end of a hard game get some reward, we will have to concentrate on winning the other cup instead ! Some great battling performances today, notably Jed, Sam,Tom B, JT and man of the match Ads.
