Match report

Churchfields U16 - 0
Bishops Waltham Dynamos U16 - 4
Testway League U16 Division 2
This 'Game' began in the car park at Jubilee Hall in BW. A series of hurdles were presented to us by the opposition including no referee and asking us to decide if the pitch was fit for play from a distance of 25 miles ! However, we went for it. Having arrived on site the pitch was indeed a tad on the frozen solid side but the sun was bright and a delayed kick off was agreed. During the delay the BW boys undertook pitch conditioning while the home team stood and watched. Eventually Churchfields kicked off but straight away Dynamos were on the offensive, a free kick was won just outside the Churchfields area, Joe takes but hits the wall and Sam hits the rebound wide. Moments later Dynamos won a corner, Joe takes, the ball seems to be heading to the keeper but goes right through his hands above his head and drops to Aaron for a close range header and the lead. So, 0-1 up after four minutes and the expectation of more to come. Unfortunately Churchfields packed their defence, dispensed with midfield and played with three up front trying to catch Dynamos on the break. This was the pattern for the remainder of the half really, all Dynamos pressure was being soaked up and occasionally Churchfields caused Dynamos defence to have to cover for each other. By half time all thoughts of a frozen pitch had melted away, Dynamos were comfortable but had only a slender lead to show for all their superiority. Manager Adam had some work to do with his talk at the break.
Three changes at the beginning of the half, Matt on for Aaron, Tom B on for Jack and Jim on for Sam. After two minutes Churchfields win their first corner, it's partially cleared and a shot from the edge of the area goes well over. Dynamos were battling hard to create a breakthrough, Joe and Matt especially getting stuck in. A great move down the right results in a shot going over from Matt. Jack comes on for a tired Joe. Just on the quarter hour Dynamos produced a move which would defeat most defences, a ball out of defence by Jim finds Tom B, he flicks the ball onto the running Ben K who heads the ball into the path of the running Matt who smashes a volley across the goal into the bottom left corner. The sheer pace of all this left Churchfields stunned and they never looked like getting back onto level terms from here. A couple of minutes later a strong run by Matt beats a couple and crosses for Jordan to shoot, keeper saves, rebounds to Tom B who shoots wide under pressure. A Churchfields corner causes chaos in the Dynamos area but it's finally cleared, rather agriculturally. Dynamos attack down the left Jordan creates an opening for Jack who shoots wide. Back come Churchfields, a ball crossed into the area from the left beats everyone and falls to the last Churchfields attacker who has the ball taken off his foot by Ads at full stretch and it goes for a corner. A Churchfields free kick is dropped over Dynamos defence and the forward running on brings a brilliant save from JT at point blank range and the follow up shot goes wide. these two wake up calls served to galvanise Dynamos into a determined period of pressure, a long throw from Tom B on the left goes to Jordan who turns and shoots only to see his shot headed off the line. Tom B, who admitted later to "wanting a goal" had a couple of long range efforts, one goes over and the other is saved. The battling Jordan is replaced by Aaron. Thirty four minuted in and Greg comes forward to add options to Dynamos midfield, he collects a throw from Jim and squares the ball across the area to find Jack who rather awkwardly slots the ball into the bottom left corner of the net. A minute later Ads hits a great ball down the left touchline for Aaron who is in lots of space and slots a well weighted ball into Matt's path, he races through to make it four and finally the score reflects the game play a bit more. A couple of minutes later and a poor Churchfields clearance gifts a chance to Aaron who had more time than he realised and scoops his shot well over the bar. There was time left for Tom B to have another long range effort but still no luck for him.
A very important win in the scheme of things, and a far more familiar Dynamos performance than the previous one. Manager Adam was full of praise for the team effort Ben K was man of the match for a fine game on the right.
